For its debut at Untitled Art, Miami, LATITUDE Gallery is proud to present works by two UK-based artists, Jiwon Cha and Wenhui Hao, alongside sculptural pieces by New York-based artist Tiantian Lou. The presentation brings together a powerful exploration of abstraction and materiality, focusing on the emotional and conceptual depth of contemporary painting.
Jiwon Cha’s practice re-articulates the sublime in the 21st century, exploring the complex emotions of uncertainty that exist both in our personal lives and within larger societal structures. Her paintings evoke a sense of sublimity, offering a space to process these intricate, often overwhelming emotions through bold forms and dynamic compositions.
Wenhui Hao’s work blends figuration with abstraction, creating fluid, layered spaces that conceal chaos, loss of control, and primal energy. Her paintings use fragmented symbols and cascading brushstrokes to explore themes of human emotion, bodily experience, and fragility. Hao’s process of deconstruction and restoration builds narratives that intertwine materiality and passion, offering a raw, visceral engagement with the canvas.
Complementing these practices, Tiantian Lou reimagines traditional painting canvas as a medium for sculpture, bridging the realms of painting and three-dimensional form.
