LATITUDE Gallery New York is thrilled to present "Phantasmagoria," Yanjun Li's solo exhibition that explores the power of abstraction to transcend boundaries and ignite the imagination. This captivating exhibition, in collaboration with LATITUDE's in-house curator, shuang cai, and the esteemed art dealer and curator, Will Leung, features 10 paintings on view from June 23rd to July 24th.
Named by the artist herself, "Phantasmagoria" captures the essence of mesmerizing and occasionally unsettling spectacles, composed of vibrant images and impressions. Through Yanjun Li's unique perspective, her art communicates a sense of the uncanny and the ethereal, inviting viewers into a realm where shared experiences and deeper connections are conveyed through layered imagery and hidden symbols. Her paintings serve as conduits, sparking emotions and inviting personal interpretations that resonate across lives.
In collaboration, Yanjun Li’s Solo Exhibition "Phantasmagoria" takes on a new dimension, offering a dynamic dialogue between the artworks displayed at LATITUDE Gallery New York and the additional location at ROOQ, 297 Church St, New York, NY 10013. This innovative approach enhances the viewer experience, providing the opportunity for a multifaceted exploration of Yanjun Li's artistic mastery.
Yanjun's work is truly grandiose on multiple levels, encompassing its physical characteristics, profound conceptual research and reflections, and the intricacy of her creative process. The sheer scale of her canvases leaves a lasting impression, while beneath the surface, a meticulous artistic vision unfolds. Prior to starting each artwork, Yanjun envisions the final visual outcome, even though the images she paints appear boundless, layered, and iterative. On a conceptual level, she delves into philosophical yet relatable questions about the world, adding depth and meaning to her art.
